About me

Ananda Shakya

Qualified massage therapist · Based in Büsingen since 2007

My name is Ananda Shakya. I was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 1963. My ancestors belong to the ancient Buddhist Shakya clan.

Since my childhood, I have been connected to traditional Ayurvedic healing therapy, a body of knowledge that has been passed down through generations in my family.

My interest in it was sparked even as a young boy, when I was allowed to accompany my grandfather, a respected medical healer, on his search for medicinal herbs.

HEALING BEGINS WITH A TOUCH

I am a qualified massage therapist trained in Switzerland and have attended many schools in my homeland in the Himalayas. I work primarily according to the authentic Ayurvedic art of massage.

The oil massage I practise, based on Ayurvedic principles, has an enormously positive effect on mind and body, such as releasing blockages and inducing deep relaxation. This helps to stimulate your body’s natural healing powers.

One of my specialities is Ayurvedic glass cupping, which also plays a prominent role in ancient Indian healing traditions. This involves gently drawing accumulated toxins out of the body using glass cups.

It is particularly important to me to take time for you and to treat you holistically.

During my youth, I spent several years in a Buddhist temple in the jungle of the Himalayan region, where I was able to deepen my knowledge of Ayurvedic medicine. I was particularly influenced by an 82-year-old Tibetan monk, a specialist in internal medicine and a lama. He possessed a vast knowledge of Ayurveda (the science of life), a natural healing art from India dating back over 3,000 years.

Since 2007, I have been running my own naturopathic practice in Büsingen (CH/D enclave)
